Show your support to the environmental and safety professionals in this community and help local children by
sponsoring this year’s ASSE/ACHMM Charity Golf Tournament! The Wichita chapter of ASSE (American
Society of Safety Engineers) and the MidContinent Chapter of ACHMM (Academy of Certified Hazardous
Materials Managers) are hosting a golf tournament to once again benefit Youthville.
Youthville is dedicated to the mission of "Giving Children Back Their Childhood" and is one of the largest, nonprofit, privatized child welfare agencies in Kansas. Youthville's vision is to provide the best sources of help to children who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected. Youthville's program areas include foster care, adoption, reintegration and case management, counseling and therapy. Youthville meets the needs of children and families by providing its services throughout Kansas. Learn more about Youthville at www.youthville.org.
This year's tournament will be held August 31, 2009 at the Willow Bend Golf Course in Wichita. We will start at 8:30am with a shotgun start.

Reminder! Chapter Elections are May 4, 2009. Here are the candidates for the 2009-2010 year. The Wichita Chapter Officers serve for one year once elected.

The Wichita Chapter of the American Society for Safety Engineers (ASSE) and the Mid-Continent Chapter of the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers (ACHMM) partnered together to raise awareness and funds through a golf tournament for Youthville. The tournament took place on Monday, Sept. 8 at Willowbend Golf Course, 8001 E. Mulberry Drive, Wichita, Kan.
The golf tournament raised $17,000 for Youthville. The money raised helps Youthville carry out its mission and vision. Youthville’s vision is to provide the best sources of help to children who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected with its mission of Giving Children Back Their Childhood. Over 3,000 children are cared for annually by Youthville.

The Chapter Annual Election of Officers was conducted during our May 5, 2008 meeting. we elected a Vice President/President-Elect and Secretary.
The new Officers are:
Play around with the Noise Meter and hear the different sounds. The red bar below shows how long it takes before a particular sound level becomes dangerous to the human ear. For example, a chain saw has a sound level of about 110 dB. Without proper hearing protection, running a chain saw for only 2 minutes can become dangerous to your hearing!
